Apple has confirmed the debut of an entry-level MacBook scheduled for early 2026. The announcement comes following speculation originating from a DigiTimes report which has since been corroborated by Bloomberg.

As per reports, Apple has initiated early production of a budget-friendly MacBook with its suppliers, eyeing a release in the first half of 2026.

The upcoming laptop is expected to feature a modest "lower-end LCD display" and will be powered by an A-series iPhone chipset, promising better performance than the initial Apple M1 iteration. Moreover, this entry-level MacBook will sport a smaller screen size compared to the 13.6-inch MacBook Air and will be priced at "well under $1,000".

Apple's foray into the low-cost laptop segment aims to tap into the entry-level PC and Chromebook market, where devices typically range from $200 to $700. Considering the $599 price tag of Apple's entry-level Mac mini, the speculated cost of the entry-level MacBook could fall within $100 to $200 more.
