A new report suggests that all models of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 will be equipped with the powerful Exynos 2600 chipset, offering impressive GPU and NPU performance improvements. Despite initial rumors indicating only the base S26 would feature this chip, leakster sources now suggest that all models could benefit from its capabilities, surpassing competitors like Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Apple's A19 Pro.
According to Korean media sources, the Exynos 2600 is expected to deliver a significant boost in NPU performance, claiming to be 6x faster than the iPhone 17 Pro chipset and 30% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Additionally, the chipset boasts a 75% faster GPU performance compared to the A19 Pro and up to 29% higher than the Snapdragon flagship.
While there were initial reports showcasing a global release of the Galaxy S26 Pro with the Exynos 2600, new rumors suggest that all Galaxy S26 models could feature this chipset in select regions. Samsung is reportedly aiming for a 50/50 split between the Exynos 2600 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 units, with the Qualcomm chip reserved for markets such as the US, China, and Japan, while the Samsung chip will be predominant in Korea, Europe, and other regions.
Furthermore, Samsung's involvement in producing Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chips hints at a potential integration of Samsung-made chips into all Galaxy S26 models, offering a unified chipset approach across the lineup. Amidst the chipset selection changes, the Galaxy S26 series lineup is also undergoing adjustments, with reports suggesting rebranding for the Galaxy S26 Pro, cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge, and confirmation of the Galaxy S26+ and S26 Ultra models.
