Meta is taking steps to give parents more control over their teen's interactions with AI on Instagram. In response to reports of minors engaging in inappropriate conversations with the AI chatbot, the company has announced new parental control features that will be available early next year.
These new controls will allow parents to block access to specific characters or completely restrict their teen's use of Meta AI. Parents will also receive summaries of the topics their children discuss with the chatbot, giving them insight into their online interactions.
Despite these changes, Meta assures that the chatbot will still be available to teens with age-appropriate protections in place. The new features will initially be rolled out on Instagram and may later expand to other platforms.
English-speaking users in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia will have access to these parental control tools, providing a way for parents to better monitor their teen's online activity.
