Verizon customers nationwide were surprised to wake up to their phones displaying “SOS mode” instead of a signal early Thursday morning. According to Downdetector, the outage affected cities like New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, Seattle, Phoenix, and Atlanta, with many users reporting issues with their phone service and mobile internet connectivity.
