During the recent Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii, Qualcomm unveiled the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 flagship SoC. This new chip, designed to offer more choices and flexibility while still delivering top-tier features, shares some key details with the previously announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Similar to the Elite Gen 5, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is built on a cutting-edge 3nm process. It boasts a custom Oryon CPU configuration with a prime core clocked at up to 3.8GHz and performance cores reaching a maximum frequency of 3.32GHz. The Gen 5 is expected to feature an octa-core CPU in a 1+7 setup, comprising one prime core and seven performance cores.
Additionally, Qualcomm mentioned that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will include a next-gen Adreno GPU, a powerful NPU, and a superior AI-ISP powered camera. While specific details are still limited, more information is anticipated to be released later this year.
