Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 as Next Flagship Chipset

Qualcomm has officially revealed the name of its upcoming flagship chipset, set to be known as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This new naming convention marks a return to the original Snapdragon 8 series structure, following the previous iterations of the chipset.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is positioned as an evolution within the established framework of Qualcomm's flagship chipset lineup. Expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii, the new chipset promises significant advancements in performance and efficiency.

Rumored specifications for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 include custom Oryon CPU cores with a prime CPU core clocked at 4.6 GHz, and an Extreme Edition version capable of reaching up to 4.7 GHz. Additionally, the chipset is said to feature a new GPU with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, aiming for a record-breaking AnTuTu score between 4.2 million and 4.4 million. Manufactured on TSMC's N3p 3nm process, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is expected to set new standards for flagship performance.

Xiaomi has also confirmed that its upcoming 17 series smartphones, including the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, solidifying its status as a top-tier performer in the mobile industry.
