Huawei has emerged as the leader in global smartwatch shipments in the second quarter of 2025, surpassing Apple in market share. According to Counterpoint Research, Huawei experienced a significant 52 percent growth in shipments and captured a 21 percent market share.
The global smartwatch market, which had been facing a decline, saw an 8 percent year-over-year growth in Q2 2025. The resurgence was largely driven by the increased demand in the Chinese market. Xiaomi also witnessed a 38 percent increase in shipments, while Imoo, another Chinese brand, reported a 21 percent growth.
Despite Huawei's strong performance, Apple and Samsung experienced a 3 percent decline in shipments worldwide. However, Apple continues to lead the advanced smartwatch segment.
With the smartwatch market expected to continue its recovery and grow by 7 percent in 2025, it will be interesting to see how the competition unfolds in the coming quarters.
