Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge to Feature Modest Battery Upgrade

Source: Date:

While expectations were high for a significant battery upgrade in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, the latest reports suggest that the device will only receive a modest capacity bump. The Chinese 3C regulatory body listing reveals that Samsung will not be transitioning to silicon-carbon batteries just yet, opting to stick with lithium-ion technology for another year.

Despite the disappointment of not getting the expected battery upgrade, the Galaxy S26 Edge will see its battery capacity increase from 3,900 mAh to 4,200 mAh. This enhancement is expected to improve battery endurance, but it falls short of what could have been achieved with silicon-carbon technology.

Competitors have been embracing silicon-carbon batteries for their higher energy density, allowing for either larger batteries or slimmer device profiles. Samsung's decision to delay this transition may impact the overall battery performance of the Galaxy S26 Edge.
