WhatsApp has introduced a new Writing Aid feature powered by artificial intelligence. This tool is designed to assist users in composing their messages by providing text suggestions in different styles such as professional, funny, or supportive. Users can choose to accept or ignore these suggestions as they see fit.
To access Writing Aid, users can tap on the new pencil icon when composing a message in any one-on-one or group chat. The feature utilizes Private Processing technology, ensuring that Meta AI generates responses without Meta or WhatsApp accessing the user's message or suggested re-writes.
WhatsApp has reassured users that Private Processing has undergone extensive testing and validation in collaboration with security experts. The feature is optional and disabled by default, giving users control over their privacy preferences.
Initially available in English in the US and select countries, Writing Aid will expand to other languages and regions later this year.
