Samsung is now testing the latest One UI 8 software on a variety of older Galaxy smartphones and tablets. One UI 8, based on Android 16, brings a refreshed design, updated icons, smoother animations, and improved performance to Samsung devices. Despite the testing on older devices, Galaxy S21 owners may not receive the update, as they are already on the One UI 7 cycle. Samsung's promise of four years of major software updates for the Galaxy S21 series means they may miss out on One UI 8 and Android 16. However, newer models like the Galaxy S24 series are expected to receive the latest software.
The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are set to launch with One UI 8 out of the box. Samsung has been releasing beta versions of the software for newer devices, with promises of expanding the beta program to other models. One UI 8 offers a more consistent user experience with AI integration and performance improvements.
