Gemini App Enhancements for Personalized Chats and Enhanced Privacy Controls

Google has rolled out an update to the Gemini app, offering users more personalized chat experiences and enhanced privacy controls. The latest features include personalized responses based on past chats, Temporary Chat for private conversations, and improved data management options.

The new "Personal context" setting enables Gemini to remember important details from past conversations, allowing for more tailored and relevant suggestions. This feature aims to make interactions feel more natural and personalized over time.

For instance, Gemini may suggest birthday party ideas related to your favorite comic book characters or recommend similar book titles based on previous discussions. This setting can be easily toggled on or off in the app's settings under "Personal context".

The update also introduces "Temporary Chat," allowing users to engage in private conversations that are not stored in Gemini Apps Activity or used to train Google's AI models. These chats are automatically deleted after 72 hours, providing a secure platform for discussing sensitive topics.

Temporary Chat is a useful feature for users looking to maintain privacy in certain conversations without impacting their chat history.

Google has rebranded the "Gemini Apps Activity" setting to "Keep Activity," allowing users to control whether their uploads are used to enhance Google services. Additionally, users can now choose whether audio, video, and screens shared with Gemini are utilized for service improvement.

These updates bring Gemini in line with other AI assistants, offering a balance between personalization and privacy controls.
