Reports from China suggest that OnePlus is in the process of testing a display upgrade for their upcoming smartphones. The brand is considering incorporating panels with an impressive 165Hz refresh rate, a feature that has not been seen in OnePlus devices before.
Interestingly, the first device rumored to debut this high refresh rate display is an unnamed mid-range OnePlus phone, with flagship models potentially following suit in the future. The screen is expected to boast a "1.5K" resolution, making it an attractive feature for both mid-range and upcoming OnePlus devices.
While the higher refresh rate may enhance the overall viewing experience, questions arise about its practicality, especially when considering the gaming performance of ColorOS / OxygenOS / Realme UI on OnePlus devices. The current software limitations may hinder the full utilization of a 165Hz display, raising concerns about the necessity of such a feature.
