A recent report from Canalys has revealed that Huawei has regained its position as the number one smartphone vendor in China during the second quarter of 2025. Despite a slight decline in the overall market compared to the previous year, Huawei managed to ship 12.2 million units, capturing an impressive 18% market share.
The success of Huawei can be attributed to its HarmonyOS 5.0-powered Nova 14 series, which proved to be a key factor in driving sales during Q2. Following closely behind Huawei was vivo with 11.8 million units shipped, holding a 17% share of the market. Oppo, including OnePlus models, secured the third spot with 10.7 million units shipped.
On the other hand, Xiaomi and Apple occupied the fourth and fifth positions with a combined 15% market share. Despite the strong performance in Q2, Canalys predicts that smartphone vendors may face challenges in maintaining their momentum in the coming months, especially after the conclusion of a national subsidy program that boosted demand in the first half of the year.
Overall, Huawei's resurgence in the Chinese smartphone market highlights the competitive landscape in the industry and sets the stage for further developments in the coming quarters.
