Travel enthusiasts need to exercise caution when watching AI-generated travel videos, as a Malaysian couple recently fell victim to a fake attraction hoax. The elderly couple ended up driving over 230 miles to a small town in Perak after watching a convincing travel video, only to discover that the attraction did not actually exist.
Local media reports revealed that the couple checked into a hotel in Perak’s Pengkalan Hulu area and inquired about the non-existent cable car ride. It was a hotel employee who broke the news to them that the attraction was a product of artificial intelligence:
I was so shocked... I explained to the auntie that the video was made by AI and not real.

The woman, feeling deceived, expressed intentions to sue the journalist featured in the video, only to realize that even the reporter was AI-generated. This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the potential risks associated with AI travel content.
