Renowned Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has shared a comprehensive roadmap outlining the future of Apple's Vision headsets and upcoming smart glasses. With a focus on innovation and consumer appeal, Apple is set to release multiple models in the smart glasses category, showcasing advanced features and cutting-edge technology.

The first model in development is positioned as a competitor to Ray-Ban Meta, offering camera and video recording capabilities, built-in speakers, voice-controlled interface, and AI features. Scheduled for mass production in Q2 of 2027, Apple aims to ship 3-5 million units in the same year.

Additionally, Apple's smart glasses will feature various material finishes for the frames and temples, expected to drive demand within the smart glasses market, with an estimated 10 million shipments in 2027.

Furthermore, Apple is developing extended reality (XR) glasses with LCoS displays, voice control, and gesture recognition. These glasses are projected to enter mass production in Q2 of 2028.

In the Vision series, a new Vision Pro headset equipped with Apple M5 chipset is set to debut later this year, with anticipated mass production commencing in Q3. Apple has plans for further innovation in both the smart glasses and Vision headset categories, with new models slated for release in 2027 and 2028.

The upcoming Vision Air, expected in Q3 of 2027, will offer a lightweight design, featuring an "iPhone-grade processor," magnesium alloy chassis, and plastic optics for weight reduction. On the other hand, the second-generation Vision Pro, set for mass production in Q2 of 2028, promises a revamped design and upgraded M-series chip, catering to a wider consumer base.
