Google has recently introduced a minimalist Calendar app for Apple Watch. The app, included in the latest version of the Google Calendar iPhone app, offers basic functionality for users. This app joins a small list of Google services currently available on watchOS, including Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Google Keep.
Features of the New App
The Google Calendar Apple Watch app allows users to view a week's worth of scheduled events and Google Tasks in a simple, list-based format. Each event is displayed with color-coded cards showing the time, title, and location. While users can access additional event details by tapping on an entry, any editing or creating of new events must be done on the paired iPhone.
Despite its limited functionality, Google has included two useful complications for the app on Apple Watch. The first complication, named "What's next," displays upcoming appointments and is integrated into the watchOS 10 Smart Stack. The second complication shows the current date and acts as a shortcut to launch the app.
Google's Commitment to Apple Watch
Google has been cautious in the past about supporting Apple Watch, with only a few of its apps receiving updates. The addition of Google Calendar to the list of available apps for Apple Watch demonstrates a renewed commitment to providing users with more options for their wearable devices.
