Google has revealed a sleek new design for its default Phone app in preparation for the upcoming Android 16 release. The redesign follows the Material 3 Expressive design language, focusing on a simpler and more streamlined user experience.

The updated Phone app features a revamped bottom bar with just the essential options like "Home", "Keypad", and "Voicemail". The Home tab now includes filters for missed calls, contacts, and spam, along with favorite contacts and recent call logs displayed prominently.
Additionally, the Contacts tab has been removed, and the Keypad tab now takes center stage, replacing the floating action button. Google is also experimenting with new swipe gestures for answering and rejecting calls to prevent accidental responses.

While the redesigned Phone app is currently available for beta testers, it may be released to the public before the official launch of Android 16. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting update from Google.
