Major telecommunications company AT&T has recently announced significant enhancements to its next-generation 9-1-1 emergency communications platform, AT&T ESInet. These new features are specifically designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of first responders by providing them with real-time, detailed information to better address emergency situations.
One of the key upgrades to AT&T ESInet is the addition of support for picture and video messaging, as well as automatic vehicle crash alerts. This means that AT&T Mobility subscribers can now send multimedia messages to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) to provide additional context and information during emergencies.
AT&T's focus on public safety is evident in these new features, which aim to enhance the transmission and protection of critical emergency data. By establishing a secure connection to leading cloud providers, AT&T is not only facilitating faster emergency responses but also safeguarding against potential cyber threats.
In addition to multimedia messaging, AT&T has partnered with Intrado to enable select model year 2026 Toyota vehicles with AT&T Connected Car SIM to transmit crash data to AT&T-served PSAPs, further improving emergency response capabilities.
These enhancements will be available to existing and new ESInet customers starting in October, positioning AT&T as a pioneer in leveraging technology to enhance emergency response efforts.
