Exciting Updates Coming to Google Messages with Custom Icons and Notification Snoozing

Source: Date:
Google Messages is receiving new features that will enhance the user experience on Android devices. One of the upcoming updates includes the ability to set custom icons for RCS group chats, allowing users to personalize their messaging experience. Additionally, a new notification snoozing feature will allow users to temporarily mute notifications for specific chats. These updates are expected to roll out in the next few days, making communication more convenient and customizable for users.
The custom icon feature will give Android users the option to select an icon for RCS groups based on photos stored on their device or illustrations provided by Google. Users will also be able to snooze notifications for 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours, or indefinitely, providing greater control over their messaging alerts.
Furthermore, the RCS tags feature will help users distinguish between SMS texts and RCS chats by tagging contacts with RCS-enabled numbers. This feature will be particularly useful for users with multiple contact numbers, ensuring that RCS contacts are easily identifiable.
