Samsung has traditionally avoided relying on Chinese suppliers for materials to produce its OLED displays. However, in response to challenges in the smartphone industry, the company is now considering opening up to Chinese materials suppliers for its future products, including the Galaxy smartphones. The upcoming Galaxy S26 series and iPhone 18 lineup are expected to feature 2 nm chipsets, with Apple utilizing TSMC's technology for its A20 chips. Samsung is working on its own 2 nm Exynos 2600 processors but may resort to using the 3 nm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 by Qualcomm if necessary. Additionally, Samsung is exploring the use of two Snapdragon variants for future products, taking inspiration from Apple's approach of offering base and Pro model A-series chips.
To prevent potential price increases like those being considered by Apple for the iPhone 17 series, Samsung is also looking into Chinese suppliers of organic materials for OLED displays. By diversifying its supply chain, Samsung aims to manage costs more efficiently and maintain competitiveness in the market.
