Google has finally addressed a long-standing omission on Pixel phones by adding native brightness control to the flashlight feature in Quick Settings. This basic feature, which has been available on other Android skins for years, allows users to adjust the brightness of their phone's flashlight directly from the Quick Settings menu.
How the new feature works
A recent update to Android 16 QPR1 beta includes a "Flashlight Strength" dialog, enabling users to adjust the brightness of the flashlight by tapping on a label below the icon in Quick Settings. This update brings Pixel phones in line with other Android devices that have long had this functionality.
While the feature is currently functional, further refinements may be made before its final release to improve the user experience.
Coming soon to Pixel phones
Despite the delay in implementing this feature, Google's upcoming updates, including Android 16, are bringing a range of improvements to Pixel devices. This addition of native flashlight brightness control is just one more reason for Pixel users to look forward to the next software update.
