Attention tech enthusiasts! Google has just announced that the official release of Android 16 is set to launch later today. While the buzz has been surrounding the new iOS 26, Android users can rejoice in the upcoming final release of Android 16. This marks the end of the beta period, paving the way for a seamless user experience on supported Pixel phones, particularly the Pixel 6-series and newer devices.
For those currently running Android 15 or an Android 16 beta on their Pixel phones, the final update will bring a host of new features and improvements. Other smartphone manufacturers are expected to follow suit with their own final updates in the near future.
It's worth noting that users on Android 16 QPR 1 Beta 1 will not receive the Android 16 final update as an over-the-air update. Instead, they can look forward to the upcoming QPR release in the fall, which will introduce a major UI overhaul with Material 3 Expressive. QPR, a quarterly release, is currently on Beta 1.1 and is set to shake up the Android user interface experience.
Stay tuned for more updates on the official release of Android 16 and its exciting new features!
