Apple Announces macOS Tahoe as the Final Operating System for Intel Macs

macOS Tahoe 26 has been revealed as the ultimate version of Apple's desktop operating system to support Intel-based Macs. This announcement came during the WWDC 2025 keynote and subsequent briefings with the press. With a focus on a unified design aesthetic across all products, Apple has shifted towards exclusive compatibility with M-series Macs, leaving Intel models behind in terms of new features and advancements. As of mid-2025, Intel-based Macs are no longer available for purchase through official Apple channels. The remaining Intel Macs, such as the 2019 Mac Pro, have been discontinued in favor of Apple Silicon alternatives. Third-party resellers and the refurbished market now serve as the only sources for Intel Macs.
