Source: Date:

The foldable smartphone market in Europe is experiencing a surge in competition as various brands vie for market share. In the first quarter of 2025, the growth of foldables in Europe was lackluster, with a modest increase of 4%. Despite being on the market for several years, foldables still remain a niche segment, accounting for only 1.5% of total smartphone sales in the region. However, with increasing competition and new players entering the market, the landscape is expected to change in the coming months.

Leading the pack in Europe is Samsung, with a 41% market share. Although Samsung maintains its position as the market leader, the brand has seen a decrease in its market share compared to the previous year, losing 15 percentage points. Competitors like Motorola have ramped up their portfolios and now hold a significant share of the market.

Motorola has emerged as a strong player in the foldable smartphone market, surpassing Honor to claim the second spot with a 15% market share. The success of the Razr 50 has contributed to Motorola's growth in Europe. Following closely behind is Honor, holding a 13% market share.

Other notable players in the European foldable phone market include Google, Tecno, Xiaomi, and Oppo, each making strides in the segment. With competition expected to intensify, consumers can anticipate lower retail prices and enhanced product offerings from various brands in the foldable smartphone market.
