WhatsApp Beta Users Can Now Control Auto-Download Quality on Android

Source: Date:

WhatsApp beta users on Android now have the option to choose the quality of photos and videos that are automatically downloaded to their devices. This new feature allows users to select either Standard quality or HD quality for their media downloads.

The feature is currently available to beta users with version 2.25.18.11 of WhatsApp for Android. It can be found in the app's Settings menu under Storage and Data, listed as "Auto-download quality."

By selecting Standard quality, users will receive compressed versions of media files, while choosing HD quality will result in high-resolution downloads. Users who opt for Standard quality can still view media in HD manually within the chat if the HD version is available on WhatsApp's servers.

WhatsApp has also introduced a new dual-upload system for sending high-quality photos and videos, ensuring that both standard and HD versions are available for recipients based on their auto-download quality settings.
