Verizon-owned budget carrier, Visible, has announced support for Android smartwatches, specifically the Google Pixel Watch 2 and newer models with LTE capabilities. Users can now connect their Pixel Watches to Visible's smartwatch service by following a few simple steps. While Visible is not selling compatible smartwatches directly, users can bring their own device to utilize this feature.
Although this update is a positive development, some users have noted the absence of support for Samsung Galaxy smartwatches, which are widely used Wear OS devices. Many in the community are hopeful that Galaxy Watch compatibility will be added in the near future.
One Reddit user pointed out a possible reason for prioritizing Pixel Watches, citing Google's involvement in facilitating compatibility with Verizon MVNOs like Visible. Additionally, Google's Pixel devices are commonly sold unlocked and are more prevalent on MVNOs compared to Samsung wearables, which are often sold through major carriers.
As of now, only Pixel Watch 2 and newer LTE models are supported by Visible, signaling the carrier's expansion into Android offerings beyond phones. While Samsung Galaxy Watch users may have to wait for broader support, it is anticipated that compatibility will be extended to more devices in the future.
