Samsung has announced a significant expansion of its sleep apnea detection feature on Galaxy Watches, now available in 36 more countries. This brings the total number of countries and territories where this feature is active to 70, with majority of the new additions being in Europe.
The list of new countries includes Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, and more. The feature, which utilizes Samsung's BioActive Sensor to measure blood oxygen saturation, is designed to detect potential sleep apnea episodes during rest.
For the feature to function, users must have a Galaxy Watch4 or later model running Wear OS 5.0 and above, and paired with a Samsung smartphone on Android 12 or newer. Users are alerted to potential sleep apnea events based on SpO2 levels recorded during sleep.
Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition that can impact overall health and quality of sleep. Samsung's expansion of this detection feature aims to provide users with important health information and raise awareness about potential sleep-related disorders.
