Analytical firm Counterpoint Research has revised its 2025 forecasts, predicting a modest 1.9% increase in global smartphone sales from the previous estimate of 4.2%. This adjustment is attributed to uncertainties surrounding US tariffs impacting the industry.
Counterpoint anticipates a 3% decline in phone sales in North America due to expected higher prices resulting from President Trump's tariff plans. Amidst these challenges, Huawei's growth forecast stands out as the highest among smartphone manufacturers.
Huawei's innovation in designing advanced chips, utilizing a 5nm process node, positions the company for significant growth. Counterpoint estimates Huawei to lead with an 11% increase in smartphone sales for 2025, followed by Motorola and Xiaomi with 4% growth each, and Apple and realme with 3% growth projections.
