Many older iPhone and iPad models are no longer compatible with the YouTube app after a recent update. Devices that cannot be updated past iOS 15, such as iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone SE (first-generation), are affected. Additionally, iPad models like iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 are also impacted. Users can still access YouTube by visiting the mobile website through Safari or another browser. However, the experience may not be as seamless as using the app.
To install the YouTube app on compatible devices, iOS 16 or later is required. Apple has provided a solution for users with older devices by directing them to the mobile web version of YouTube. Unless users upgrade to a newer iPhone or iPad that supports iOS 16, they will need to use the browser to access their favorite videos. The YouTube app can still be downloaded from the App Store for newer devices.
