T-Mobile faces backlash for misleading Mint Mobile customers with new switch offer [UPDATED]

Update from June 4, 2025:
Mint Mobile, now under the ownership of T-Mobile, is facing backlash for allegedly misleading its customers with a new switch offer.
Despite promising to provide the best value to customers, T-Mobile is being accused of encouraging Mint customers on the Unlimited plan to switch to T-Mobile Essentials in a way that seems deceptive.

The original story follows below:
Last year, T-Mobile acquired Mint Mobile and has been introducing upgrades and additional services to improve the user experience. However, recent actions by T-Mobile suggest a different agenda.
T-Mobile is promoting a switch from Mint Unlimited to T-Mobile Essentials, claiming it will save customers money. However, some customers are questioning the true intentions behind this move and the actual savings it offers.
T-Mobile now owns Mint, so it's not "someone else" as Mint has implied. T-Mobile Essentials starts at $55 per month, which is higher than Mint Unlimited.
Why is Mint Mobile trying to upsell these users to a more expensive plan, and falsely claiming in big font at the top that it will "save you more money"? I take it this was a directive by the parent company T-Mobile

Since Mint runs on T-Mobile's network, customers may not experience any difference in coverage by switching plans. We have reached out to T-Mobile for a comment and will update the story accordingly.
