T-Mobile has decided to discontinue the SIM block feature that was aimed at improving account security. This move comes as the company introduces a new SIM Protection feature to give customers more control over their SIM card settings.
Previously, T-Mobile had enabled the SIM block feature to combat SIM swap fraud, where criminals would hijack a customer's number by transferring it to their own SIM card. However, with the introduction of the SIM Protection feature, customers can now manage when to block or unblock SIM card changes themselves, eliminating the need for store staff to handle these requests.
Customers who had previously enabled the SIM block feature are being informed through text messages that it is no longer available. The new SIM Protection feature can be toggled on and off through the T-Life app and T-Mobile's website, providing customers with greater flexibility and security.
