Rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhone 17 indicate a shift to a larger 6.3-inch screen size, with the base model and the iPhone 17 Pro both boasting the same display dimension. The move to a larger screen size is backed by DSCC founder and Counterpoint Research VP Ross Young, known for accurate display-related predictions in the past.
Aside from the increase in size, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to offer superior screen specifications such as ProMotion technology and higher peak brightness levels. This parity in screen size between the base model and the Pro version mirrors previous releases like the iPhone 15 series.
The Apple iPhone 17 lineup is also rumored to introduce variations in screen sizes among its models. The iPhone 17 Slim (or Air), positioned as the replacement for the iPhone 16 Plus, is rumored to feature a slightly smaller 6.6-inch display compared to its predecessor's 6.7-inch screen. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will likely retain its title as the largest iPhone with a 6.9-inch screen size.
