Source: Date:

Apple is rumored to be stepping up its camera game with a possible 200MP sensor for future iPhone models. According to reports, the tech giant is testing this new sensor, but details on which iPhone it will be featured in and its release date remain unclear.

Digital Chat Station shared the news on Weibo, sparking speculation about the potential camera upgrade. While it is uncertain who will manufacture the sensor, Samsung is a likely candidate given its current lineup of 200MP cameras in flagship models such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S25 Edge.

Testing a new sensor does not guarantee its inclusion in upcoming iPhones, but with the trend towards higher-resolution cameras in smartphones, it's possible that Apple will incorporate the 200MP sensor in future models. Current iPhone models offer 48MP sensors, with rumors suggesting a jump to 24MP for front-facing cameras in the iPhone 17 series.
