T-Mobile is rolling out a new feature for its Starlink-powered satellite messaging service, with a toggle option for easy activation and deactivation. This allows users to control when they want to use the satellite feature, providing flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
While the service is currently in beta and free for all users, it will become a paid add-on for most T-Mobile customers starting in July. The toggle feature will be particularly useful for customers on older plans, who will need to pay a monthly fee for continued access.
AT&T and Verizon customers will also have access to similar satellite services, albeit at different pricing tiers. T-Mobile's decision to offer a toggle option aligns with the trend of providing customizable features for users, especially in situations where consistent usage may not be necessary.
Texting is currently supported, with data support expected to be added later this year. Voice capabilities are also planned for future integration.
