Despite a successful year in the smartphone market, Apple faced a setback in the smartwatch industry in 2024. Recent data from Counterpoint Research revealed a 19% decline in Apple Watch shipments for the year. This decline was observed in all regions except for India, marking a concerning trend for Cupertino.

The North America market, historically a key growth driver for Apple, experienced a notable decrease in demand for Apple Watches. Furthermore, the fourth quarter of 2024 marked the fifth consecutive quarter of declining shipments for the tech giant. Analysts attribute this downturn to the absence of a new Apple Watch SE model and minimal upgrades on the Watch Series 10.

While Apple struggled with declining shipments, its competitors witnessed growth in their smartwatch sales. The upcoming release of the Watch SE and Watch Ultra 3 might offer a chance for Apple to reverse this trend, but only time will tell.
