T-Mobile's Changes to Plan Pricing and Fees Unveiled [UPDATED]

Source: Date:
Update from May 1, 2025:
T-Mobile has recently announced updates to their plan pricing, including the phasing out of plans that include taxes and fees in the price. Existing customers will not be affected by these changes, and new Go5G plans will still be available for a limited time.
The original story from April 30, 2025 follows below:
T-Mobile customers were caught off guard when they noticed that taxes and additional fees were no longer included in the new plans. Reports from alleged T-Mobile representatives suggest that the company is moving towards discontinuing older plans altogether. Employee sources have indicated that store personnel will no longer receive commissions for activating these older plans, with instructions to prioritize the new plans that exclude taxes and fees.
T-Mobile employees have confirmed this shift in strategy, which is set to take effect on May 1. This change will make it more challenging for customers to sign up for plans that include all charges in the price. As a result, representatives may be reluctant to activate older plans in order to earn commissions.

These changes come in response to customer criticism over unexpected pricing updates to existing plans. T-Mobile had faced backlash for increasing the monthly costs of plans that were initially marketed as price-locked. Moving forward, the company aims to be transparent about pricing guarantees and duration in its offers.
T-Mobile's decision to eliminate plans with bundled taxes and fees marks a shift towards a more conventional carrier model, departing from its "un-carrier" image. This move echoes industry standards set by competitors like AT&T and Verizon, who do not offer plans with all-inclusive pricing.
