Google Messages Introduces New Feature to Shield Users from Unwanted Explicit Images

In an effort to enhance user privacy and safety, Google is gradually rolling out a highly anticipated feature in its Messages app. Initially teased last year and set to launch in February, this feature is finally becoming available to select users in the beta version of the app. This important update aims to help users avoid explicit content and provides additional protection, especially for younger users.

Under the new privacy settings, sensitive content warnings are enabled by default for teen users, while adults must activate them manually. For supervised accounts, these protections are automatically set and managed through the Family Link app. Teens aged 13 to 17 on unsupervised accounts can opt to disable the feature if they wish, providing them with some choice in their messaging experience.
