During an internet and telecom conference, Verizon's Chief Revenue Officer discussed the limited demand for satellite capabilities and downplayed the need for complementary solutions, despite partnering with Skylo and AST SpaceMobile to provide satellite connectivity. This revelation contradicts T-Mobile's assertion that there is high interest in their satellite program among non-T-Mobile customers.
Verizon customers will be charged $20 a month for satellite service, a fee that Verizon believes is too high given the low demand. While T-Mobile offers free direct-to-cell service until July, Verizon sees satellite service as merely an add-on and not a reason for customers to switch providers.
