As the anticipation builds for the next generation of Motorola smartphones, the leaks are starting to roll in. The Moto G85, which debuted in June of last year, is about to be succeeded by its latest counterpart, the Moto G86. Following earlier leaks about its pricing, we now have the first official-looking renders showcasing the phone’s unexpected design.
In a striking move, Motorola appears to be adopting a design language that aligns closely with its flagship Edge series, particularly evident in the design of the camera island that resembles the Edge 60 Fusion. This shift suggests a desire for continuity across its mid-range and higher-end devices.
The materials used on the back of the device are worth noting as well, with sources describing it as “a mix of felt and textile.” Early images reveal that the Moto G86 will be available in eye-catching color options, including purple and dark blue, the latter featuring a faux leather finish.
Further details reveal that the phone sports a flat display with minimal bezels, although the top and bottom bezels appear slightly thicker than those on the sides. At the heart of photography is a 50 MP primary camera using a yet-to-be-named Sony Lytia sensor equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS). Users can also look forward to Dolby Atmos support for an immersive audio experience.
While there is no confirmed launch date for the Moto G86, it is expected to retail for around €330 in the Eurozone, featuring 8GB of RAM and a generous 256GB of internal storage.
