Recent leaks suggest that Apple is in the process of developing a more streamlined version of its mixed reality headset, likely to be named the "Vision Air." This new model is expected to differ from the current Vision Pro, both in form and function. According to renowned leaker Kosutami, the Vision Air will incorporate titanium into some of its internal features, such as the battery and connectors. This strategic use of materials is aimed at significantly reducing the overall weight of the device.

In a bid to enhance durability while maintaining a lightweight structure, the external shell of the Vision Air is rumored to be crafted from aluminum with a sleek midnight black finish. This design choice is likely to provide a modern and sophisticated appearance, appealing to a broader range of users.

Additionally, there are hints of a new charging connector that will accompany the Vision Air. This connector is reported to be thicker than the existing Lightning port and will be finished to match the headset’s aesthetics. This could indicate a new direction in Apple's approach to power and data transmission within its headset range.

The timing of these leaks is particularly noteworthy, especially in light of recent reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, which noted that Apple is actively exploring two new Vision headset models. One in this pair is designed to be more lightweight and affordable, while the other may serve as a high-end tethered device optimized for Mac integration. With the Vision Pro currently priced at $3,499, a more accessible model like the Vision Air could be crucial for Apple’s efforts to broaden its audience in the immersive tech market.
