The eagerly awaited Oppo Find X8 series has finally been unveiled, and we were fortunate enough to get an early look at the cutting-edge Find X8s and Find X8s+ models. Both smartphones promise to deliver flagship features packed in a compact design, making them a notable addition to the contemporary smartphone landscape.

As the newest members of the Find X8 family, these models sit just below the advanced Find X8 Ultra. However, don't let their names fool you; both the Find X8s and X8s+ are powerful devices that can compete with top-tier phones.

Starting with the dimensions, the Find X8s boasts a 6.32-inch display and measures 150.6mm in height, comfortably weighing just under 180g, making it a lightweight choice. Its smaller form factor ensures easy handling, especially for users who prefer a compact phone.

In terms of design variations, the Find X8s+ offers a choice between a matte Black or Purple frame, while a glossy White variant is also available. Unique to the Purple model is its coordinating purple camera island; the other two options feature black glass surrounding the lenses.

The Find X8s enjoys a selection of finishes that includes a glossy White with a black glass camera island and options for a matte frame in Purple and Blue, both featuring color-matched camera island glass, as well as a matte Black finish with a black glass camera island.

On the other hand, the larger Find X8s+ sports a 6.59-inch 10-bit display capable of refreshing between 1-120Hz. This screen provides Dolby Vision support and achieves a remarkable peak brightness of 1,600 nits. With a height of 157.5mm and a weight of 198g, it's still compact compared to many other high-end smartphones.

When it comes to photography, both models share similarities in their camera systems. The main camera is a powerful 50MP unit with a 24mm f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by an ultrawide camera using a 15mm f/2.0 lens. This internals is remarkably similar to that found in the premium Find X8 Ultra.

The zoom capabilities differ slightly, as the Find X8s+ features a 73mm f/2.6 periscope zoom while the Find X8s has an 85mm f/2.8 lens, providing a range of photography options for users.

Despite their aesthetic similarities, there is a tangible difference in how each phone feels in hand. The Find X8s feels distinctly smaller, enhancing its grip and portability for daily use.

Unfortunately, similar to its sibling, the Find X8 Ultra, Oppo has opted not to release these models in international markets. This decision adds to the ongoing frustration from international audiences who are keen to experience the advancements these Chinese phones offer.

Both Find X8s devices are known for being relatively compact yet feature impressive specifications, boasting powerful silicon-carbon batteries—5,700mAh in the Find X8s and 6,000mAh in the Find X8s+. This gives them a significant edge over competitors like the Galaxy S25 Ultra with a 5,000mAh battery and the iPhone 16 Pro's 3,582mAh.

With Chinese smartphones continually improving their camera technology, the growing quality of photography capabilities is an enticing factor. Unfortunately, for those outside of China, these advancements may seem painfully out of reach.
