Samsung has unveiled the Pro variants of its rugged devices, the Galaxy XCover7 and Galaxy Tab Active5, designed to cater to demanding professions. These latest models are equipped with faster processors, larger batteries, and enhanced features tailored for users in challenging work environments.

The Galaxy XCover7 Pro is powered by the new Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, delivering a performance level that is twice as fast as its predecessor, the Dimensity 6100+. Coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage (expandable via microSD up to 2TB), it's designed to meet the needs of professionals who require reliability and speed.

The device comes with a bigger battery of 4,350mAh, up from 4,050mAh in the original model, ensuring longer usage times even in the most demanding situations. Charging options include USB-C (3.2) and pogo pins that work with various docks.

Designed for ruggedness, the phone boasts an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance (up to 1.5m for 30 minutes) and complies with MIL-STD-810H standards. This makes it suitable for use in environments that require regular sanitization, having been tested with common cleaning agents.

The 6.6-inch LCD display features a 1080p+ resolution (20:9) and now offers a 120Hz refresh rate, along with Vision Booster and Touch Sensitivity modes for use with gloves up to 2mm thick. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+.

Sound quality is enhanced with stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos, and customizable keys such as the Top Key and XCover Key allow users to assign various functions, including push-to-talk modes.

On the camera front, the XCover7 Pro includes a dual-camera setup with a 50MP main and an 8MP ultra-wide lens, complemented by a 13MP front camera. Additionally, it offers various connectivity options, including 5G support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC.

The Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro features a larger 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200px that also offers a 120Hz refresh rate and improved brightness of 600 nits, alongside Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection.

It utilizes the same Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, with configurations available for 6/128GB or 8/256GB memory, again expandable via microSD. The new tablet enjoys a significant battery upgrade, sporting a 10,100mAh hot-swappable battery, enabling continuous operation without shutdown.

Both devices support Samsung DeX for a desktop-like experience and include advanced security features through Samsung's Knox suite. Notably, the Tab Active5 Pro includes an NFC reader that can function through the screen, simplifying mobile Point-Of-Sale setups.

Both the XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro are set to launch later this month, with the XCover7 Pro priced at €610 in Europe and the Tab Active5 Pro (128GB) at €810. Samsung anticipates robust growth in the rugged device market, projecting demand from sectors such as retail, government, and healthcare.

“At Samsung, we understand that frontline professionals need technology that adapts to their fast-paced and demanding work environments," said Jerry Park, EVP and Head of Global Mobile B2B Team at Samsung Electronics. "The Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro combine ruggedized durability, enterprise-grade security, seamless connectivity, and intuitive AI-driven features to help businesses operate efficiently in harsh conditions, maximizing productivity while minimizing downtime.”
