Android 15 Elevates Standards for Smartphones and Tablets
Google has announced new minimum requirements for its Android operating system as it launches Android 15. This update represents a shift towards more demanding specifications, ensuring that devices are equipped to handle the increasing complexity of the OS. With higher internal memory requirements, users are set to experience improved functionality and performance across a broader range of Android devices.
As part of the new regulations, all Android devices running the latest Android 15 must now include a minimum of 32 GB of internal storage. This change applies to devices that previously operated on Android 13 or Android 14. There may be older smartphones that fall short of this criterion, resulting in them no longer being eligible for the latest version of the OS.

In addition to storage expectations, Android 15 introduces enhanced requirements for emergency services. This feature will allow users to share emergency contacts and location data when required. Furthermore, while Android 14 devices were limited to running with only 2 GB RAM, Android 15 expands these capabilities by enabling performance optimizations for devices with as little as 3 GB RAM. Future iterations, such as Android 16, may further raise the RAM requirements to 4 GB for improved service and efficiency.
Although these new specifications may appear minor to some, they are significant for users of budget-friendly Android smartphones, which make up a large segment of the market. As these requirements take effect, manufacturers will need to adapt to stay competitive in an evolving ecosystem.
