Apple Maps Now Accessible on Android Devices via Web Browser

In a significant move to reach a broader audience, Apple has introduced ways for Android users to access its navigation service through a web version of Apple Maps. This development not only bridges the gap between Apple and Android platforms but also provides users with more options for navigation as they embark on their journeys.
Previously, Apple Maps was exclusive to Apple devices, effectively sidelining a large segment of users who rely on Android smartphones. Last summer, Apple took a step towards inclusivity by launching a beta web version of the maps service for desktop and tablet browsers. However, Android mobile users were left out of the equation... until now. Just recently, Apple has officially removed the beta tag from the Apple Maps web version (maps.apple.com) and added compatibility with mobile browsers on Android. This means Android users can now easily navigate using Apple Maps through browsers like Chrome on their devices, although many are likely to continue using the more familiar Google Maps.
For iPhone users, the change is less pronounced since Apple Maps is already integrated into iOS and available to download from the App Store if removed. The new feature allows both iPhone and Android users to choose between Google Maps and Apple Maps for their navigation needs.

The web version of Apple Maps has recently introduced the Look Around feature, which provides 360-degree panoramic views similar to Google Maps' Street View. However, users should note that the web version of Apple Maps lacks some advanced features available on the iOS app, such as 3D building renderings and transit maps. Additionally, without a sign-in option, users cannot access Saved Places or custom Guides.
Apple is expected to enhance the web version of Apple Maps further and may still have plans to develop a dedicated Apple Maps app for Android in the future.
