Discovering Xi'an through the Lens of Oppo Find X8 Ultra

During a recent launch event for the Oppo Find X8 Ultra in China, we grasped the opportunity to explore the stunning city of Xi'an. With its rich history and picturesque landscapes, it was the perfect backdrop to test the camera capabilities of this flagship device. Our photo walk covered various focal lengths, from ultra-wide to impressive telephoto, and we aimed to showcase the device's imaging potential.

We took stunning shots at 0.6x, 1x, 3x, and 6x zoom levels, even utilizing the 6x zoom camera in low-light conditions and for captivating portrait shots. The following images highlight the Oppo Find X8 Ultra’s remarkable camera setup, but we’ll keep the technical jargon to a minimum for now!

Our experience revealed the Find X8 Ultra’s technical prowess, performing seamlessly from 15mm to 135mm and beyond. The camera's image processing delivers sharpness, contrast, and tonality that remains consistent across the different lenses, which is a rare find.

While there are subtle color temperature variations between the wide-angle and zoom lenses, each pair maintains its own consistency, ensuring a cohesive look throughout our snapshots.

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra showcases an exceptional zoom range. With a well-structured choice of focal lengths, it truly stands out in the ultra-cameraphone market. The versatile 70mm midrange zoom is enhanced by a large 1/1.56-inch sensor, closely rivaled only by the flagship vivo X100 Ultra and X200 Pro models featuring a 1/1.4-inch sensor at similar focal lengths.

For fine detailing from afar, the 135mm telephoto camera is a substantial upgrade, now supported by a larger sensor and a brighter f/3.1 lens, which is a significant improvement over the f/4.3 found in previous models. This enhancement greatly assists in low-light scenarios.

The advantages of the 6x zoom camera become apparent when shooting beyond 135mm, as it preserves fine details in the background that might not be captured by the 70mm lens. Both the 70mm and 135mm focal lengths are ideal for portrait photography, and we captured several images that demonstrate the capabilities of the Hasselblad-tuned portrait mode, enhancing background separation remarkably.

Lastly, we experimented with the 1-inch main camera in low-light settings. This sensor excels in such conditions, providing a significant advantage over many flagship counterparts like Pixel, iPhone, and Galaxy models. The larger sensor size allowed for quicker capture rates and a richer image output, imbuing our pictures with a high-end camera quality.
