In a bid to enhance user experience, WhatsApp has announced a significant update by introducing a variety of new features aimed at making messaging more interactive and efficient. These updates come as part of ongoing efforts to improve group chats, video calls, and overall usability. Let's explore these innovative features that are now available for users.
First on the list is an Online indicator in group chats, allowing members to see who is currently available right below the group name. Next, users can opt to receive only Highlights from groups, which streamlines notifications to include mentions, replies, and messages from saved contacts.
Another notable addition is the ability to create events within 1-to-1 chats. Users can now RSVP as "maybe," invite an additional person, set an end date and time for longer events, and even pin these events within the chat.
In terms of interaction, users can now tap on someone else's reaction to quickly respond in the same way to messages. Furthermore, iOS users can also scan and send documents straight from WhatsApp, with convenient options to crop and save documents as needed.
Additionally, WhatsApp has made it easier for iOS users by allowing them to set the app as their default messaging and calling service in compatible regions. This can be done simply by navigating to Settings > Default and selecting WhatsApp.
Other enhancements include the ability to pinch to zoom during video calls on iOS, and the option to add a contact to an ongoing 1-to-1 call directly from the chat thread. Users can also expect improved video call quality, experiencing quick transitions to HD quality when bandwidth allows.
For channel admins, new features include the ability to record and share short videos of up to 60 seconds with followers and access voice message transcripts for better engagement. Lastly, admins can now create a QR code that links directly to their channel, simplifying the process of sharing it with others.
