Verizon customers expecting savings from a loyalty discount are instead reporting shocking bill increases—and some are ready to switch carriers over the ordeal. One longtime subscriber recently shared their frustrating experience online, revealing how a simple request for a $10-per-line discount turned into a billing nightmare.
A Reddit user under the handle TurtleDove96 detailed their story in April 2025. After years with Verizon, they received a loyalty offer promising an extra $10 off each line. But when a chat representative applied the discount, every other promotion on their account—including "locked-in" home internet pricing—vanished overnight. "My bill should’ve gone down, but instead it spiked by over $50," they wrote.
Verizon’s customer service reportedly couldn’t reverse the changes, leaving the user considering a switch to T-Mobile. And they’re not alone: Other Redditors shared similar stories, with some still battling to restore lost discounts. Just last month, another customer lost their promotions while attempting to save money.
Some frustrated subscribers have escalated issues to Verizon’s Executive Leadership or filed FCC complaints to resolve billing errors. We’ve contacted Verizon for comment and will update this story with their response.
