iPhone users on Google Fi or Tello can now enjoy the benefits of Rich Communication Services (RCS) thanks to the latest iOS 18.4 update. This update eliminates the previous technical and cost limitations that prevented MVNOs from offering RCS support, allowing for a seamless messaging experience between Android and iOS devices.
Tello has officially announced RCS support for iPhones via its Subreddit. With T-Mobile's network infrastructure, users on Google Fi and Tello can now send high-quality photos and enjoy real-time message indicators without relying on third-party apps. To activate RCS on your iPhone, simply update to iOS 18.4 and enable the feature in your Messages settings.
This development puts pressure on other MVNOs to follow suit, and it is expected that more prepaid carriers will enable RCS support in the near future. The inclusion of RCS across different carriers brings us closer to a more consistent and modern messaging experience across platforms, bridging the gap between iOS and Android users.
