ASUS has recently provided a sneak peek of its upcoming second generation ROG Ally handheld gaming device through a teaser video on Twitter. While the video does not reveal the physical device, it drops hints about potential upgrades and improvements.
The teaser video showcases the ROG mascot working on the next iteration of the Ally. Promising features such as 'marathon stamina', 'more capacity', 'faster speeds', and a 'fresh look!', suggest that users can anticipate enhanced performance, increased storage capacity, improved battery life, and a revamped design. Additionally, the video hints at a merger between the original Ally and the ROG Raikiri Pro controller, although the implications of this union remain unclear.
While the timing of the teaser might lead some to suspect an April Fool's prank, it's essential to note that the original Ally was unveiled on April 1 a couple of years ago.
The debut of the initial ROG Ally took place in 2023, receiving positive feedback for its versatile game compatibility and performance. However, criticisms were raised about its battery longevity, software integration, and minor design flaws. The subsequent release of the Ally X in 2024 rectified many of these issues while retaining the same processor.
Anticipated as the Ally 2, it is expected that the upcoming model will inherit advancements from the Ally X, incorporating an upgraded processor and display. ASUS is also rumored to be developing an Xbox-branded handheld device, but this is likely a separate project slated for a later launch.
