Apple has been strategically expanding its iPhone assembly operations outside of China, with India emerging as a key manufacturing hub. A recent report by The Economic Times indicates that Foxconn is looking to significantly increase its iPhone production in the country.
According to the report, Foxconn aims to ramp up its iPhone assembly in India to 25-30 million units by the end of this year. This would mark a substantial increase from the approximately 12 million iPhones assembled in India by Foxconn last year.
The focal point of Foxconn's expansion plans is its newly established facility in Bengaluru, which is poised to become the second-largest iPhone assembly plant within the company's manufacturing portfolio. Recent reports suggest that Foxconn has already commenced trial production runs for iPhones at this facility in recent months, signaling its commitment to scaling up operations in India. Both Apple and Foxconn have refrained from providing official comments on these developments.
